I have noticed diversity among all music performances and artists I have engaged with so far. After watching Open Mic events and attending Makers’ Market, an event held by San Diego State University Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Resource Center and One SDSU, where musicians and vendors show off their creativity and market their products, I have seen artists of different ethnicities, genders and styles perform their hearts out on the stage in the Student Union Courtyard.
I want to share the works of these musicians through my story and talk about how they express themselves with original compositions, audience interactions and entertaining acts. I have seen a variety of diverse performers, including those of Filipino backgrounds, which resonates with me, since I come from a Filipino family. I have also seen Black, Japanese, Chinese and Hispanic artists spread inspiration throughout the community through social media platforms, live performances, audio and video clips.
Sounds like you have a lot of information for your upcoming story. So glad you could attend the event at SDSU!
