I have made more progress on my story in terms of getting permission to use pictures and videos, using some of my own and contacting fans on their opinions of the musicians I am writing about. I have gained a new perspective of musicians in that I know more about the diversity of them at San Diego State.
So far, I have interviewed and connected with musicians on and off campus, living in San Diego and performing in person and online. I have learned that there are in-person and virtual spaces for artists to share their music with communities in the College Area and neighborhoods in the city. Social media plays a significant role in helping performers put their work out there and invite audiences to their shows.
